ECFO was founded in 2001 to provide outsourced accounting services and corporate financial advisory. At this time, the need for this was acute. Big accounting and financial consulting firms were focused on tax and financial reporting while multinationals and private equity portfolio companies were pushing to localize top management. With a lack of expertise in global accounting best practices at the time, compounded by a general talent shortage, financial statements produced by a typical financial department were not an accurate representation of a company’s health and were of little use to management for decision making. Companies operating in Asia faced financial transparency challenges and an inability to find talent for key roles that were important to their ability to perform.

ECFO was in a unique position to fill this gap. Our team of multilingual controllers and CFOs had built their experience operating start-ups and PE portfolio companies in Asia. Since, we have been consistently engaged in business expansion, turnaround and transition in emerging markets in China and Southeast Asia.

While the baseline quality of financial management in Asia has increased dramatically in the intervening years, so has the demand for greater transparency and accuracy. ECFO remains at the vanguard of this effort to support improved decision making through better financials and internal controls.
