Matt joined ECFO in February of 2009. He is currently ECFO’s partner for financial modeling and valuation, has held roles of interim-CFO, and in previous positions has headed up ECFO’s project team (focused primarily on turnaround management, enterprise modeling and due diligence). Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, Matt graduated from Dickinson College first in his class in 2002 with a BA in Russian Language and Literature and Russian Area Studies. In 2002 and 2003, he conducted field research on Local Government in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan as a Fulbright Scholar. From 2003 through 2006, Matt worked for the Urban Institute, a Washington D.C.-based policy think tank, first in Tashkent on a housing policy reform project and later in Osh, Kyrgyzstan on an economic development project. In 2007, Matt returned to the US to attend the Thunderbird School of Global Management, from which he graduated in 2009 with an MBA in Global Finance. At ECFO, Matt has worked and advised on many multinational and PE held companies, including holding roles as interim-CFO. Some of the industries Matt has served include chemicals, brewing and distillation, QSR, manufacturing, retail, education, HR, software as a service and online-to-offline services. Through his work with ECFO, Matt has also co-founded three software products aimed to automate and streamline time-intensive labor tasks that he has faced during his roles as a CFO. These include: Decision Critical (a financial modeling product for strategic planning); Sourcemaster (for management of project and inventory tracking in sourcing companies; and StoneWorks (for management of production and inventory management in the decorative stone industry). All products are at various stages of development. Currently based in Bangkok, Thailand, Matt has lived in Eurasia for 20 years, including 9 years in China. Matt is fully bilingual in English and Russian. He is fluent in Mandarin and speaks intermediate Turkish, as well as basic Thai and Uzbek.
